You are busy in a training session and you receive an unknown call or message that you disconnected you ignored. However, the caller keeps making the call and you decide that you only need the call to achieve, it's a salesman or someone with whom you don't want to connect. Annoying, right? With iOS and Mac, you can't connect people with you from calling and FaceTiming you haven't blocked them from via iMessage. Let's see how you can block calls, text messages or FaceTiming your contacts or unwanted incoming calls.
Contact blocking on iPhone/iPad
NOTE : The instructions provided in this section are true for all versions of iOS, however, options may vary.
To block contacts on iOS:
Go to Settings > Mobile > Call Barring & Authentication > Block Contacts .
From the All Contacts window, scroll to select Contacts to Block and TAP Block this call followed by Block Contacts .
The blocked window will show recently blocked contacts.
Blocking contacts in the FaceTime app
Go to FaceTime
Click the phone number next to it, or the info icon of the contact you want to block.
Scroll to the bottom of the screen and tap Block this call .
Blocked in the phone app contacts
Go to Phone app > Recent calls . Look for Name or Unknown Number Blocking and tap the Recent Calls icon next to it.
Scroll down to the bottom of the contact and select Block this call .
From the alert, the popup select box contacts the contact name or number to add to the block list.
Block contacts in messaging app
Go to the Messages app and open the conversation for the contact you want to block.
Click the information symbol, then the name, and select Block this call .
From the alert, the popup select box Contact the contact name to add to the block list.
Grooming mechanism iPhone contacts
You can unblock contacts any time. Follow steps 1 and 2 above, then click Unblock this call .
tip
When there are too many spam calls, it becomes a challenge to block each of them individually. Here's a little trick that might help. Add all spam calling numbers to a single contact and block it.
When you block a phone Latest Mailing Database number or contact, they can still leave a voicemail, but you will not receive notifications and messages will not be delivered. Contacts will not be notified that their calls or messages are blocked. Feel free to block unwanted contacts and incoming calls.
Block Contacts on Mac
FaceTime and Messaging aren't just limited to iPhones and iPads. Features that Mac users also enjoy. Just like on the iPhone, you can block messages or FaceTiming your contacts on the Mac.
Open Info on your Mac.
Click Info and select Preferences on the menu bar .
Click the Accounts tab, then next to the iMessage account, click Block
Click the Add button and select Contact Blocking. Their name, number and associated email address will be added to your block list.
The selected contacts will be blocked from Messages or FaceTiming you on Mac.
To unban a contact, you can select the name from the list and click the minus icon.
You can also block FaceTime app calls on your Mac.
Open FaceTime
Find the caller you want to block from the left menu.
Right-click or control-click the contact.
Select the block to select the incoming call from the drop-down menu . The contact name, number and associated email address will be added to your block list.
